Analyzing Multi-ROIs

A multi-ROI analysis automatically groups labeled voxels into components based on connectivity and then calculates properties such as volume, surface area, Phi and Theta angles, aspect ratio, and center of mass for each labeled object. Using selected statistical properties, you can then classify objects that share specific characteristics. You should note that the number of objects that can be contained and analyzed in a multi-ROI is only limited by your system's memory.

The properties initially calculated are dependent on the selections made in the Column Selector dialog, which is available from the Object Analysis panel (see Selecting Statistical Properties for Analysis).

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Right-click the region of interest you want to analyze and then choose New Connectivity Multi-ROI Analysis in the pop-up menu.

A multi-ROI is created automatically and is added to the Data Properties and Settings panel and appears in the current scene (see Multi-ROI Properties and Settings for information about multi-ROI properties and settings). In addition, the Object Analysis dialog appears.

    • Right-click the multi-ROI you want to analyze and then choose Analysis in the pop-up menu.

The Object Analysis dialog appears onscreen (see Object Analysis Dialog).

  2. Continue to the next sections to learn more about analyzing multi-ROIs.

You can work in the Histogram or Table view, or a combination of both, to complete an analysis (see Working in the Histogram View and Working in the Table View).
